    Pedersen studied at the royal Academy of Fine Arts in Copenhagen and afterwards spent twelve years travelling in Southeast and South Asia, painting portraits of all the different peoples he met; Indians, Sri Lankans, Malay, Arabs, Thai, Indonesians and Chinese.
  • Sobre el artista

    Von Pedersen estudió en la Academia de Artes de Copenhague antes de viajar primero a Alemania y luego a Londres, donde conoció a su hermano mayor que trabajaba en una plantación de tabaco en Sumatra. Allí decidió en 1898 visitar a su hermano en Sumatra, donde llegó después de una breve parada en Sri Lanka. Desde allí viajó y pintó en Penang, Singapur, Java y Siam. De regreso a Dinamarca, se detuvo en Bombay, donde pintó el retrato del Maharadja de Burdwan. Von Pedersen pasó veinte años en el sur y sudeste de Asia, pintando retratos de todos los diferentes pueblos del sudeste asiático; Indios, ceilandeses, malayos, árabes, tailandeses, indonesios y chinos. También pintó antiguos templos, paisajes, particularmente volcanes y paisajes urbanos de los diferentes lugares que visitó en Asia.
