  Victor Simonin (1877-1946) – Stilleven met Keulse pot en groenten
  
  Victor Simonin was een Belgisch neo-realistisch kunstschilder. Hij volgde tegelijk de avondlessen aan de Academie voor Schone Kunsten in Brussel en de vioolklas aan het Conservatorium. Een ongeluk had een handicap aan zijn linkerhand tot gevolg waarna hij zich volledig op de schilderkunst toe. Simonin behoorde tot de ‘Sillonisten’, een groep jonge Belgische schilders, leerlingen van de academie in Brussel, die rond 1900 het impressionisme herontdekten. De weergave van het licht in rijke kleuren, spontane verfstreken en een overdadige verfopbreng kenmerkten het werk van deze schilders.
  Het aangeboden werk is daar een duidelijk voorbeeld van en draagt overtuigend het ‘handschrift’ van zijn maker Victor Simon.

  Victor Simonin was a Belgian neo-realistic painter. He also attended evening classes at the Academy of Fine Arts in Brussels and the violin class at the Conservatory. An accident resulted in a handicap on his left, after which he devoted himself entirely to painting. Simonin was one of the “Sillonists”, a group of young Belgian painters, students of the academy in Brussels, who rediscovered Impressionism around 1900. The representation of the light in rich colors, spontaneous brushstrokes and an excessive application of paint characterized the work of these painters. The work on offer is a clear example of this and convincingly bears the ‘handwriting’ of its maker Victor Simon.

  Victor Simonin (1877-1946) fue un pintor neorrealista belga, nacido en Bruselas. Asistió a clases nocturnas en la Academia de Bellas Artes de Bruselas y simultáneamente estudió violín en el Conservatorio. Tras un accidente que le dejó discapacitada la mano izquierda, decidió dedicarse por completo a la pintura.

  Simonin fue un miembro destacado de la asociación de artistas "Le Sillon", un grupo de jóvenes pintores belgas que redescubrieron el impresionismo alrededor de 1900. Su obra se compone principalmente de naturalezas muertas y paisajes, con un estilo pictórico potente y amplio que recuerda al de Guillaume Vogels.

  En 1941 recibió el prestigioso Premio A. Oleffe, en reconocimiento a su contribución a la pintura belga. Póstumamente, sus obras se expusieron en el Museo de Ixelles en 1977 y en el Centro de Arte de Rouge-Cloître en 1997, lo que da testimonio de una apreciación duradera de su legado artístico.

  Las pinturas de Simonin continúan siendo apreciadas y se ofrecen regularmente en subastas, donde son buscadas por los coleccionistas por su representación vívida y su habilidad técnica.
